ACTS commenced its mission trips to Myanmar in 2012, visiting several homes and orphanages including centres run by the Salesian sisters. At their centres, we spent time interacting with the girls under their care, through catechesis sessions and activities and also provided funding for water purifiers, solar water heaters and knitting machines.
It has always been in the plan of the Salesian sisters to build a kindergarten in a township outside Yangon to educate and care for the children from poor and needy families. ACTS, with the support of the parish of St Vincent De Paul, arranged for Sr Stella and Sr Veronica from Myanmar to visit the parish and share about their mission. The sisters’ visit took place from 18 to 20 October this year and they shared at every Mass and also met with the parishioners.
ACTS and the Salesian sisters of Myanmar are grateful to Fr Michael Sitaram, parish priest of the Church of St Vincent De Paul and to its parishioners as well as others who responded generously to the appeal for funds.
The Salesian Sisters saw the need for education, human promotion and development of youth, especially of children and young women, particularly in the area of women and youth education, primary education and skills training. Read more at their website >
