On February 10, 2016, at the Malacañan Presidential Palace in Manila, the FMA of St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello Province of the Philippines-Papua New Guinea (FIL) visited Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. at the office of Communications Work, Office of the President of the Philippine Republic.
Among the Sisters present were: Sr. Josefina Carrasco, Provincial Vicar; Sr. Rebecca Ramos; and Sr. Jessica Salvaña, Provincial of the Cambodia-Myanmar Province. The aim of the visit was to thank Secretary Coloma for his precious help, in collaboration with the Customs Commissioner, Alberto Lina, for facilitating the arrival of 16,000 new pairs of Crocs footwear received as a gift from the ACTS Singapore Association for the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan.
Secretary Coloma, a past pupil of Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, expressed his solidarity as the Head of government, to commit himself to work for the common good. The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, together with ACTS Singapore, acknowledge with gratitude and humility the intervention of God and of Our Lady in this process. The Sisters, together with the lay collaborators in the mission, began the distribution of Crocs footwear on the Island of Cebu, then in the provinces of Leyte, Samar, Iloilo, Negros, Palawan, Pampanga, and Mindoro.
