romeOn the 2nd and 3rd of Nov 2013, the Pontifical Academy of Sciences organized a workshop entitled “Trafficking in Human Beings” in Vatican, Rome. The workshop was initiated at the request of Pope Francis who is very concerned with the global problem of human trafficking which includes prostitution, child labour, illegal organ transplantation etc. and what the Church could do to alleviate the situation which involves some 10 million victims annually!

The ACTS program was presented as an example of an individual or parish based program that could help reduce the problem through promotion of education of children and girls at risk. The presentation given, created considerable interest amongst some of the participants who approached us informally to enquire about the initiative. The highlight of the workshop was the opportunity to meet the Holy Father who was every bit as humble and affable as reported in the public media.
