CHARIS is organising a Talk cum Workshop exploring the use of art in mission work. This 3-hour interactive workshop will have a hands-on component to facilitate experiential learning. “Art therapy is a process of retrieving images from our unconscious mind, is a powerful technique to help people resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behaviour, reduce stress and trauma, increase self-esteem and self-awareness by offering other means than words to express suffering, encourages exchange which are often difficult to achieve for a child suffering from trauma.” About the Speaker Joanna’s full-time work as an art therapist these 10 years has given her the opportunity to encounter people from all walks of life. Her experience includes working with adults suffering from trauma & abuse, grief, depression, anxiety and various forms of mental, social and emotional distress as well as teens who suffer substance abuse. Working contractually with VWO and various agencies, she continues to provide art therapy for children with behavioral and emotional difficulties resulting from trauma, abuse and neglect.
