Battambang, Cambodia Mission, 6–13 Dec 2025 Registration

Mission size: 100–120 participants

Battambang is the capital of Battambang Province and one of the larger cities in Cambodia. Monsignor Enrique Figaredo, the Apostolic Prefect of Battambang, has invited ACTS to work with the poor and needy in education and health with the Salesian sisters who help run the Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia. So if you have an open heart and willing hands, we invite you to join us in visiting children and helping to spruce up the infrastructure at more than 8 locations in the city and surrounding villages.

ACTS has been visiting Battambang since 2013, and many of our participants have built strong bonds with its people. We have seen the city develop with supermarkets and coffee houses popping up. Still, the rate of development slows as we venture further from the city.

Participants should be physically and mentally well to participate in the mission's activities. While the mission is primarily geared towards participants who are 16 and above, we welcome participants of ages 12 and above to join. Participants aged 12–15 must be accompanied by at least one parent.

Estimated cost (SGD):

1. Mission Fee for 2025 is $250 (includes transport and most meals)
2. 7 nights of hotel $130–$250 (depending on rooming status)
3a. Airfare to Siem Reap is around $500 
(Bus to Battambang will take approx. 5 hrs)
As of writing, only SIA flies directly from Singapore to Siem Reap.
3b. Alternatively, airfare to Phnom Penh is around $400. (Bus to Battambang will take approx. 5 hrs)
 

Application closes on 22 June 2025. You will need to attend a Mission Awareness session to understand details about the mission outreach and what is expected from you. Participants who are still interested will be required to attend at least 3 further preparation sessions & some sub-team planning meetings.

Youths below 15 years old must be accompanied by their parent for the mission.

Youths below 19 years old must be accompanied by an Adult / Guardian for the mission.

A guardianship responsibility is extended to no more than 2 minors not of kin.

MISSION OVERVIEW

AIRFARE
Participants are responsible for purchasing their own flight tickets and travel insurance (this is mandatory).

ACCOMMODATION
Hotel reservations will be arranged for participants and all room and miscellaneous charges incurred will be settled by participants upon check out on the last day.
Roommate must be either siblings/parent-child or of the same gender, if unrelated.

COST

Mission fee for Battambang is SGD250 per person. This amount is used to help defray costs incurred for Cambodia airport transfers to and from hotel, all meals, daily water supply, local coach transfers and any expenses that may arise during mission week.  It does not include airfare, hotel accommodation for the week and any personal expenses. Any balance from the total fees collected will be put back into the ACTS Central Mission Fund for use the following year.  There will be no refunds of Mission Fees except on medical grounds or by appeal due to exceptional circumstances.

PRE MISSION COMMITMENT
In preparation for a meaningful outreach experience, you will need to attend 4 Pre-Mission sessions. In particular, participants will not be confirmed for the mission until after they attend the Mission Awareness session on 27 July 2025. Please do not book travel until you have been officially confirmed for the mission.

LUGGAGE
Ensure you have spare luggage space of at least 5kg to help carry up items for the mission

TRAVEL
Participants may choose to fly into Siem Reap or Phnom Penh.
The bus journey from Siem Reap to Battambang is approximately 5 hours.
The bus journey from Phnom Penh to Battambang is approximately 5 hours.
If you fly into Siem Reap, you must arrive at Siem Reap airport before/by 6 December (exact timing TBC)
If you fly into Phnom Penh, you must arrive at Phnom Penh airport before/by 6 December (exact timing TBC)
NOTE: Airport transfer to Battambang will be provided only at these locations and times.
For the return journey, participants will leave Battambang in the morning on Saturday 13 December.
We will arrange airport transfer out from Battambang to Siem Reap/ Phnom Penh airport.

GUARDIANS (for participants under 19)
For youths aged 12 to 14 years old
Youths aged between 12 and 14 years old must be accompanied by their parent for the mission.
For youths aged 15 to 18 years old
Youths below 19 years old must be accompanied by an Adult / Guardian for the mission.
Due to past experiences in previous missions, mission leaders have considered it prudent to institute the following guidelines for guardianship:
- Guardians of youths should be 25 years or older.
- Maximum of 2 wards per guardian
- Guardians must fly in with their wards
- Guardians must be responsible for their wards during “off” hours
- 1 ward can have 2 guardians (in case they move from 1 mission to another etc)
