Vietnam Mission, 5–12 July 2025 Registration (WAITLIST)

Dear friends of ACTS,

This is our 3rd year to the An Binh Elementary School in Can Tho area, along the Mekong Delta region in South Vietnam.  An Binh is a rural town, about a 5-hour land journey of 190km from Ho Chi Minh City. 

This will be our 7th year of mission in Vietnam, collaborating with the Institute of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA or Salesian Sisters).

ACTS has been supporting the An Binh school since 2020, replacing the once dilapidated classroom floor tiles and building a community shelter which was completed in 2022. 

Seeing the children returning to the renovated school after the pandemic is heartening. Currently, there are about 200 kindergarten and elementary school level children, mostly from the surrounding poor villages. The villagers reside along the river banks in the Mekong Delta region; hence most students travel across the river by ferries to attend school daily. Every year, the area experiences severe flooding during the monsoon season and the An Binh School has not been spared its share of flood damage to their classrooms and facilities. 

Our mission requires our volunteers to interact with children between kindergarten and elementary school, conduct simple English and sustainability lessons, organise arts and crafts sessions and music-based activities, run folk games, and hold hygiene and personal safety lessons. We will also be reaching out to needy families by delivering humanitarian parcels of basic food essentials.

Age: 18 to 70 years old (prepared to rough it out in the spirit of mission) 
Estimated cost:

S$ 700 - $800 which covers airfare, accommodation, mission fees (including water, land transport and most meals) but excludes personal expenses.

You will be informed to attend Mission Awareness and Formation sessions which will be held in April and May respectively. During these sessions, you can find out details about the mission outreach and what is expected from you and how you can contribute your gifts and talents.

Youths below 15 years old must be accompanied by their parent for the mission.

Youths below 19 years old must be accompanied by an Adult / Guardian for the mission.

A guardianship responsibility is extended to no more than 2 minors not of kin.

MISSION OVERVIEW

AIRFARE
Participants are responsible for purchasing their own flight tickets and travel insurance (this is mandatory).

ACCOMMODATION

Hotel reservations will be arranged for participants and all room and miscellaneous charges incurred will be settled by participants upon check out on the last day.
Roommate must be either siblings/parent-child or of the same gender, if unrelated.

COST

Mission fee for Vietnam is SGD240 per person. This amount is used to help defray costs incurred for local land transfers, most meals, daily water supply and any expenses that may arise during mission. It does not include airfare, hotel accommodation for the week and any personal expenses. Any balance from the total fees collected will be put back into the ACTS Central Mission Fund for use the following year. There will be no refunds except on medical grounds or by appeal due to exceptional circumstances.

PRE MISSION COMMITMENT
In preparation for a meaningful outreach experience, you will need to attend 4 Pre-Mission sessions. In particular, participants will not be confirmed for the mission until after they attend the mission awareness session on Sunday 7 April. Please do not book travel until you have been officially confirmed for the mission.

LUGGAGE
Ensure you have spare luggage space to help carry up items for the mission.

TRAVEL
All participants must arrive before/by 5 July and depart only on/after 12 July. An Binh is a 5-hour drive from Ho Chih Minh city so all participants need to board the hired transport in one contingent.
