Our upcoming trip marks our 4th visit to An Binh Elementary School in Can Tho area, nestled in the heart of the South Vietnam's Mekong Delta.  An Binh is a peacefu rural town, located about 190 kilometers south of Ho Chi Minh City, a journey of about 5 hours by land.

In 2026, ACTS celebrates its 7th year of mission work in Vietnam which is in collaboration with the the Institute of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), also known as the Salesian Sisters.

Since 2020, ACTS has been supporting  An Binh Elementary School, beginning with the replacement of the once-dilapidated classroom floor tiles and continuing with the construction of a community shelter, which was completed in 2022.

ACTS' visits to An Binh Elementary School are always filled with so much joy! The school currently serves about 200 kindergarten and elementary level students, most of whom come from the surrounding low-income villages. Many families reside along the riverbanks of the Mekong Delta and as a result, most students travel across the river by a wooden boat early in the morning each day to attend school. Each year, the region faces severe flooding during the monsoon season and An Binh Elementary School has not been spared its share of flood damage to its facilities. 

You might be wondering, what do we do? Our mission calls for us to interact with children from kindergarten and elementary levels - by conducting simple English lessons, organising arts and crafts sessions, music and sustainability activities, as well as hygiene and personal safety lessons. In addition, we extend our support to needy families in the community by delivering humanitarian parcels containing essential food supplies.

Estimated cost: S$ 900 - $1,000 - This covers airfare, accommodation, and mission fees (including water, land transport and most meals) but excludes personal expenses.

You will be required to attend all Mission Awareness and Formation sessions, which will be held in April and May 2026. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to meet the team, discuss the program flow, obtain information about the mission outreach, understand what is expected of you and explore how you can contribute your unique gifts and talents.

FAMILY GROUP

Participants below 19 years old must be accompanied by a parent or an appointed adult guardian. Adult guardians should be at least 25 years old. For safeguarding purposes, an adult guardian may assume responsibility for no more than two minors who are not their own children or legal dependants.

MISSION OVERVIEW

AIRFARE AND LUGGAGE SPACE
All participants are responsible for purchasing their own flight tickets and mandatory travel insurance. Kindly ensure that you have at least 20kg of spare luggage allowance to assist with the carrying of items for the mission.

ACCOMMODATION

Accomodation will be arranged for participants. Any rooming and miscellaneous charges incurred during the stay shall be borne by participants and settled upon check-out on the last day.
Roommates must either be siblings/parent-child or of the same gender, if unrelated.

COST

The mission fee for Vietnam 2026 is SGD340 per person. This fee is used to defray costs incurred for daily transportation, most meals, daily water supply and other expenses that may arise during the mission. The mission fee does not include airfare, accommodation during themission week and any personal expenses. Any surplus from the total mission fees collected will be credited into the ACTS Central Mission Fund. Mission fees are non-refundable, except on medical grounds or upon appeal due to exceptional circumstances.

PRE MISSION COMMITMENT

In preparation for a meaningful outreach experience, participants are required to attend four Pre-Mission sessions. Please note that participation in the mission will only be confirmed after your attendance at the Mission Awareness Session on Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Participants are therefore strongly advised not to book any travel arrangements until they have received official confirmation for the mission.

LUGGAGE
Ensure you have spare luggage space to help carry up items for the mission.

TRAVEL
All participants are required to arrive in Ho Chi Minh city together on 4 July 2026 and may only depart on or after 11 July 2026, following the conclusion of the mission. An Binh is a 5-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh city so all participants must board the hired transport in one contingent.

Mandatory: Participants are required to register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) prior to departure from Singapore
