Rekindling the ACTS love

The elegant Jacob Ballas Ballroom at the St Regis Singapore was this year’s venue for the ACTS GALA dinner, an annual fundraising event that returned on 19th August after a 2 years absence. The occasion was aptly themed ‘REKINDLE’, to remember all our overseas friends and for some - family, reawaken our missionary spirit and reconnect with our supporters and collaborators. This charity event boasted an attendance of 340 including overseas guests who flew in;

ACTSgala22 052The evening’s entertainment was helmed by our very own musicians; David Loke, Shu Chen, Nicholas Png, who had previously participated in ACTS missions in Cambodia. Those easy listening tunes soon led to a series of rapturous applause for Fr Henry Siew, Fr Cary Chan and Fr Kamil Kamus who belted out familiar oldie hits. From the floor, Carrie Seow and Pon Yeo wooed the audience with their classy and jazzy renditions of their favourites. As the night progressed, even our ex-Chairman Dr. Damian Png and current chair Dr Gladys Wong could not hold back anymore and took to the stage for a Bill Wither’s hit “Just The Two Of Us”.

The evening then moved to the annual ‘Build It Up’ segment - the fund-raising highlight. This year served up a montage of videos stitched by our overseas collaborators and benefactors, showcasing the happenings through the last 2 COVID years and what the horizon is for them. Moved by the stories and familiar faces, this affair brought on pledges that surpassed expectations. In total this GALA raised over S$350,000. With the support of all our patrons, the ACTS Humanitarian Fund is once again able to meet the urgent needs in our mission countries in Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.

ACTS remains grateful to every one who have helped made the event a tremendous success and to all the donors and supporters who have generously contributed to the GALA.
